“My affections and emotions have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you; you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on”.
When Mr Darcy confessed those words to Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice based on Jane Austen’s novel of the same name, we thought “That’s it! That’s love right there!” They got their fairy tale ending and had some of us believe at sixteen that someday we will too. Little did we know that in reality, not everyone is promised their happy ending.
Love is a secret, complicated, natural phenomenon; unlike a mathematics algebra equation it cannot be solved nor has a logical explanation. It is a fixed, infinite mark that has been eclipsed by the world’s sinful and destructive nature and lost in the immorality of humanity.
