You’ve heard it before, “drink 8 glasses of water a day”. Eight glasses of water are roughly 2 litres of water a day, which sounds like a lot but the human body is about 60% water. How much water does the human body really need a day to function at its best level?
There are many factors that determine how much a person needs to drink a day and this usually varies from person to person. The body usually loses water through sweat and urine and some people may experience more water loss due to health reasons or hormone imbalances which may cause excessive sweating or bowel movements.
However, simply drinking water whenever you’re thirsty is not good enough as even mild dehydration can impact you quite a bit. Mild dehydration can limit your performance and endurance. It is therefore advisable by healthcare experts to sip on water throughout the day so as to prevent dehydration altogether. You don’t have to just drink water either, there are healthy alternatives such as organic fruit juices and healthy teas that could make delicious substitutes as well.
