Gavin Watson was a South African businessman who served as Chief Executive Officer of sate capture implicated company, African Global Operations which was previously known as Bosasa from 2000 until his recent death on the 26th of August 2019.
There are many conspiracy theories surrounding the controversial businessman’s death. These theories came after Watson was killed in a horrific accident at 5am on 26 August, on the road leading to the O.R Tambo International Airport. He has been accused of corruption and using his government officials to get lucrative business deals.
Watson was supposed to appear before an Inquiry on Tuesday 27 August to gather facts surrounding allegations of hiding assets from SARS and not complying with tax obligations. The inquiry is part of an investigation by SARS into Watson’s tax compliance.
702 reported investigative journalist Mandy Wiener’s analysis of Gavin Watson’s accident. She says that he was driving a company issued Toyota Corolla because he was apparently having mechanical issues with his metallic blue BMW X5 which he left at the company premises in Krugersdorp. Wiener said that this was strange because Watson signed out a manual car and apparently can only drive an automatic car.
She further said that there are numerous theories surrounding his death and that there is a possibility that he had a heart attack or blacked out because there are no skid marks on the road, or he intentionally drove a manual car to commit suicide. However, at this point there is no evidence of foul play because there are pictures of Gavin Watson on the scene and injuries are visible. His family is seeking an independent autopsy and report.
