In front of a vibrant audience at Multichoice City in Johannesburg was the reveal of 31 players who will be representing the Springboks in the 2019 Rugby World Cup hosted by Japan.
Springboks legendary number 6 jersey that Nelson Mandela wore as a symbol of racial reconciliation when he presented the trophy to the Springboks Afrikaner Captain after winning the 1995 world cup, hung in the Multichoice offices where everyone gathered to hear the reveal of the 2019 Springboks squad who will be representing the country in Japan.
President of South African Rugby Mark Alexander named the squad. Tendai Mtawarira and Francois Louw will be attending their third World Cup, bringing in their experience to the game. Siya Kolisi, the Springboks captain, said that leading the team to their Rugby World Cup is both an exciting and daunting task but he couldn’t be more honoured.
